No Accounting for Taste
I created dishes to serve refreshments at an opening reception: wine, beer, and five kinds of macaroni and cheese from American cheese with hot dogs to white cheddar and lobster. The choice of dishes and food represented the variety of tastes subtly offered through design and cultural background. The dishes were returned to the table to create an aesthetic experience of use and choice throughout the night, demonstrating that pottery is not a blank canvas, but carries meaning through use.
